There are only 92 manufacturers of medical equipment and medicine in Uzbekistan
Before the independence of Uzbekistan in 1991, there was only one pharmaceutical factory and most of the drugs needed were imported from other countries. After independence, Uzbekistan has developed to 18 pharmaceutical factories, including 6 domestic pharmaceutical factories and 12 joint venture pharmaceutical factories established with Britain, Germany, India, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Turkey. About 300 kinds of commonly used drugs are produced, However, it is far from meeting the domestic market demand. There are more than 800 kinds of commonly used drugs in Ukraine, and all of them need to be imported. In addition, 60% of the raw materials for drug production also rely on imports
